Obituary

After a brave 2 year battle with lung cancer, our dear brother Joseph has sadly ended his fight and is joining our father Armando, brother David and Uncle Tony on a new long and winding flight path, where they can soar.

Joey will be remembered for his sharp wit, great sense of style and generous heart. We have all been touched by Joey's sense of dry humour which left most of us smiling and laughing in his presence.

A dedicated son, uncle and partner, Joey is loved by all who have been lucky enough to have known him. His partner Nirav, mother Silvana, brothers Michael and Donald, nieces Amanda, Michele and Josephine, nephews Matthew and James, will have a new star in the sky smiling at them.

Joey was a loyal friend and a dedicated leader at the City of Toronto's transportation department where he considered his colleagues to be friends.

We will all miss Joey...

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you donate to his partner's Ride to Conquer Cancer fundraising page dedicated to Joey and his brave fight at: http://www.conquercancer.ca/goto/niravpatel

I joined The Ride because devoting a day to cycling is one small way I can make a big difference for cancer patients here in Toronto at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and around the world.

We all met on July 2015 on the “Imperial Splendors” trip. We all clicked instantly! I remember Joey always smiling and making us all laugh, he really made our trip that much better. We had our final farewell gathering in Munich at the Biergarten, I will never forget that night as it was non-stop fun. I am grateful that Joe came into our lives and will always remember our laughs. We always kept in touch via email and I will miss hearing from him. Silvana, the entire Colafranceschi family, and Nirav, I can't even imagine what you are going through and please know I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Michele, Lauren & Max xoxo

Joey,

You're missed on Elderfield.

Joe was a friend, a business contact, a neighbor, and a mutual lover of cool cars. I was so sad when I heard about his passing. He had a great sense of humor and wore a smile like a suit of armor. His fashion sense was always on point, even when I would catch him walking the dog around the block. I'm fortunate to have such fond memories of him which I'll carry with me forever. To his family - I'm so sorry for your loss - but he's always going to be with us, in one form or another. Keep on smiling like Joey did - that's what he would want.

What can I say about a wonderful soul who touched so many people with his kindness, sincere friendship & a love of drinks! Joey was Initially my boss but became a close buddy & shared lots of great conversations, laughs & dinners/drinks! I wouldn’t help but Laugh when I was with him. He always made me feel good just being around him. One thing I admired was the love he had of family especially his mamma! He was a great man :). I’m glad he was able to enjoy the last few years with someone very special! Joey, luv you & will miss you, esp those crazy calls! To all the family and friends:

Joey!
... not just a name or a person; a human being of extraordinary sensitivity and delight for life.
A man who give oceans of affection to anyone who could swim style; a gentle star on Earth, who simply had to pilot his life and accepting with politeness the occasional failure.
Joey, has been, is and will always be a shining star regardless all.
He touched my life and soul with blessed memories that I will cherish eternally; he moved me is so many different ways and I learned, I stayed strong, and accepted the terms... I will continued to think of him and pray that God, has created a new lovely silver cloud to assign to his new star... Joey!
Joey has left the planet, but not the hearts of those of us he had known, cared, loved and chosen to be part of his life history.
You will always be in my heart and soul, Joey... you will be in my Christmases and Easters, in my happy and sad days, in my anger and my prayers, in the sunshine and the rain, in my successes and my failures: in short... you'll always be my greatest friend and my greatest happiness.
Thank you for being Joey, and I will always remember your advice: "Ron, appreciate life... it's beautiful".
