Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Elena on July 1, 2020 at the age of 88. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved Lidio. Elena was the loving mother of Celeste (Mary), Silvana (Fausto Palombo) and Antonietta Berze. Cherished Nonna of Andrew (Alexandria), Alessandra (John Sollazzo), Christina (Peter Tanev), Lauren (George Economou), David (Stephanie), Adam, Eric and Katherine. Loving “Bis Nonna” of Adrian, James, Lia, Emma, Luke, Mia, Audrey, Benedict, Isaac, Elliott, Josephine and Evelyn. She is survived by her sister Iole Ianni. We were blessed to have had such a wonderful mother who cared and sacrificed without reservation for her family. Elena was diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease and fought with courage and resilience for many years as her energy and abilities slowly left her. The life that she led and the care and love that she showed to all will be an example for all of us and will continue to both guide and comfort us. A special acknowledgment of appreciation from our family is extended to Elsie Palenzuela who cared and comforted our mother throughout with love and dedication for which we will be forever grateful.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ward Funeral Homes, 4671 Highway 7, (just west of Pine Valley Dr.), Woodbridge. As a result of the challenges and limitations imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, visitation will be limited on Friday from 2-4/6-9 pm. To the Iacobelli family,
Our deepest condolences during these trying times. Zia Elena was such a warm, caring and gentle soul. When I recall all the memories I’ve had the pleasure to have with her, she was always surrounded by family and laughter. All the Iacobelli’s should be proud to know that when Zia Elena is looking down on all her family she will be smiling down and grateful of what she left behind. Katherine, Robert and Julia Ianni. God bless.

Celeste and Mary and that beautiful list of grandchildren, great grand children and your entire family. My mother Jennie doesn't have a computer but she so very much wanted to leave this message. We only came to know of your mother's passing last evening....and/so together on behalf of my mother Jennie, our father Frank Sr. in heaven and myself and George... we wish you peace at this very difficult time. We look at that most beautiful picture of your mother and it absolutely screams 'what a wonderful life'. Although we didn't know her as well as we know you, we KNOW she and your father raised the absolutely most beautiful family. You are all hands down so down to earth, so kind, humble, always willing to offer advice, a helping hand and never showing anything but an incredibly kind side. that can ONLY come from the foundation of a great Mother and great father. You have all lived your life just like her and I'm sure there is nothing that would make her prouder. Her obituary said it all... she created an entire three/four generations of family that loved her so much. they overcame so much to make sure we didn't have to overcome the same things. And while their later lives may have seen some of their energy stolen, it most definitely never stole their spirit and you made sure of that. She is the bravest and most beautilful of angels now. We must all live her example and your father's and my angel father as well. I'm sure they're all up there having a nice glass of wine, grappa, probably some cheese too and looking down thinking 'wow. we done good'! But they'll also see how sad we are without their advice, their wisdom, their smiles. I know in time you'll find peace but in the meantime while words just don't seem enough, please know that our friendship is with you always. you have been and will always be so special to the ciccolini family and we hope to hug you soon again and share memories of our parents. May God bless Elena and your entire family. Your friends always. Jennie Ciccolini ( and Frank Sr. from heaven ), Cathy Ciccolini and George Ioannides.
