Cristina (Nella) Venditti (nee Carnevale)

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother Cristina (Nella) Venditti. On May 31st Cristina lost her battle with Covid-19. Cristina is predeceased by her husband Libero. She will be greatly missed by Daughter Filomena Venditti (Terry Nakonecznyj) Son Giovanni Venditti (Nancy), and her Grandson Michael Venditti.

Cristina Carnevale born in 1936 in Vinchiaturo, Campobasso, Italy, to proud parents Antonio and Emilia Carnevale. Cristina immigrated to Canada in 1954 and began a new life with her soulmate, Libero Venditti with whom she shared 47 happy years of marriage, until his death in 2001. Cristina shared a special life long bond with her siblings Michelina, Giovanni, and Franco and their respective spouses, Salvatore, Filomena, and Giovanna. Because of her grounded nature and loving personality my father’s family, Michelangelo, Frank, Cristina, Maria, Carmela and Antonietta, quickly adopted her as one of their own. Like a sister, they all valued, respected and loved her dearly. The Carnevale Family, became very close with the Venditti Family, celebrating many of life’s achievements and holidays. Family was everything to Cristina, she was especially proud of her grandson Michael.

Cristina worked for many years in the garment industry. She was a very talented seamstress, who took great pride in her work and provided her daughter and daughter-in-law with custom made clothing. She had many talents including cooking and baking for her family.

Mom, we just want to take a moment to acknowledge all that you have meant to us. We want you to know you were the best mom we could ever ask for. Thank you for all your love, everything you were as a person, and for everything you gave us. While Covid tragically took you away from us without warning and made it impossible for us to be by your side, we know that dad was there to help carry you to heaven. We will honour respect and love you forever.

Donations, in Cristina's name, may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.

Dear Fil, Terry, John, Nancy and Michael
We are so very sorry for the loss of your beloved mother and grandmother. Zia Nella was such a delight with her laugh and quick wit. We are all suffering on this day, and wish so much that we can be physically with you. However we remain with you in spirit, sending you love compassion and hugs. The Venditti family seems to be diminishing in numbers, but our bond remains strong. We take comfort that they are being reunited in Heaven.

Dear Filomena, John, Terry, Nancy and Michael,
Our deepest and most sincere condolences to you all. Zia Nella was a kind and beautiful soul, with nothing but love for everyone and she will be missed. I know how difficult this time is, but know that we are thinking of you all and holding you in our hearts. I truly believe she is dancing with Zio Libero, and they're all having a great celebration together.
Sending you all much love,
Enza, Tony, Marc, Matthew and Sara

It is with the most heavily burdened of hearts that we send our condolences in the wake of the loss of our precious Zia Nella - undoubtedly remembered as a pint-sized domestic goddess and the all-commanding matriarch of a remarkable and beautiful family clan (from which she exacted such an intense sense of gratification and purpose). Her reputation as a formidable and skilled chef remained intact throughout her life, as well as her status as a maven and connoisseur of the world of alterations with her fine, meticulous needlework and dressmaking capabilities. In addition to her creative genius in these capacities, we vividly remember her vivacious celebratory spirit and her fierce loyalty coupled with the undeniable wash of confidence and safety one felt when conversing with her. Zia Nella was a social butterfly in her own right – she lived unapologetically in the present and was engaged and emotionally invested in the current moment. She struck a perfect harmony and balance between her trademark soft-spoken means of personal expression and managing to communicate her message in an admirably direct and forthright manner. We will eternally treasure countless mental snapshots of her endearing mannerisms as she burst into fits of hearty giggles on so many occasions. It was one of the most fortunate circumstances of our family’s history to have basked in her wonderful company (in addition to the one and only Uncle Libero of course) as our neighbour on Terra Road for a glorious decade. She was passionately inviting and accommodating to a fault once one joined her on the home front, as she agilely fluttered about to prepare coffee and populate an abundant spread and trays of delicious goodies before one’s eyes. Our hearts and love are forever hers as she rests peacefully in the depths of heaven.
